Glock and Polymer80 parts: what fits and what does not

The single most useful fact about a Polymer80 pistol is that it follows the Glock Gen3 parts pattern. The single most common mistake is assuming that means every Glock part fits. Some do, some fit only in the right size, some need the Gen3 version specifically and a few are Polymer80-only. This guide sorts the parts into those groups so you can order once. It is compiled from the makers' published specifications and the fitting experience owners report; confirm fit with the part maker before you buy. We are not affiliated with Polymer80 or Glock.

First, the three sizes

PFS9 = Glock 17 size. Full-size slides, barrels, recoil assemblies and 17-pattern magazines.
PFC9 = Glock 19 size. Compact slides, barrels and recoil assemblies; 19-pattern magazines, and 17-pattern magazines also fit.
PF9SS = Glock 43 size. Single-stack slides, barrels, magazines and a separate set of small parts. Nothing from the double-stack pistols crosses to it.

Fits directly: Gen3 fire-control parts

Trigger with trigger bar, connector, trigger spring, trigger housing with ejector, slide stop lever, slide lock and spring, magazine catch and spring. Any part sold for a Glock 17 or 19 Gen3 fits the PFS9 and PFC9. That covers essentially every aftermarket trigger kit and connector on the market. Gen4 triggers physically fit but are matched to Gen4 trigger housings; mixing generations in the fire-control group is where owners report odd resets, so keep the group all Gen3.

Fits directly: slide internals

Striker, striker spring, spring cups, spacer sleeve, firing-pin safety plunger and spring, extractor (9mm, Gen3 style with the loaded chamber indicator or without), extractor depressor plunger assembly and slide cover plate. All Gen3-pattern 9mm parts. A Gen4 or Gen5 extractor is shaped differently and does not belong in a Gen3-pattern slide.

Fits in the right size: slides, barrels, recoil assemblies

Gen3 slides and barrels fit the matching frame size. Gen4 slides use a dual recoil spring assembly with a larger front hole and a different recoil spring; they do not fit a Gen3-pattern frame without a conversion. Gen5 slides and barrels differ at the front of the slide and the barrel hood and are not compatible. Buy full-size Gen3 for the PFS9 and compact Gen3 for the PFC9. The recoil spring assembly follows the slide: Gen3 single-spring, full-size or compact.

Fits with a caveat: sights and optics

Every Glock-pattern sight fits, because the dovetail is the same on all generations. Suppressor-height sights and fiber optics from any maker work. Optic plates are a slide question, not a frame question; see the slide maker's footprint list.

Fits with a caveat: magazines and magazine catch

Glock 17 and 19 magazines from any generation fit the double-stack pistols, and Gen4 or Gen5 magazines with the extra catch notch fit too. The magazine catch itself is Gen3 style on a Polymer80 frame; some owners install a Gen4 reversible catch with its spring, but that is an owner modification, not a listed fit. Glock 43 magazines fit the PF9SS.

Polymer80-only: order by the PF-series name

Locking block and front rail module. The Glock part does not fit.
Rear rail module. Glock has no equivalent part.
Frame pin set. Sized for the PF-series frame.
Trigger housing. The Glock Gen3 housing fits in most reports, but the PF-series housing is designed for the rear rail module; the safer buy is the Polymer80 part.

Does not fit

Gen4 and Gen5 slides, barrels and recoil assemblies.
Gen5 trigger housings, trigger bars and slide-lock springs.
Glock 43X and 48 parts on the PF9SS; those pistols have a different frame.
Any .40 S&W or .357 SIG slide or barrel; the Polymer80 pistols are 9mm-only and the breech face and ejector differ.

Magazines across generations

Magazine compatibility is the easy part of the chart. Every Glock 17 and 19 magazine ever made, from Gen1 through Gen5 and every aftermarket copy of them, feeds in the PFS9 and PFC9, because the magazine well and catch position follow the original pattern. The only wrinkle is the reversible-catch notch on Gen4 and Gen5 magazines, which is irrelevant on a left-side catch. Glock 26 ten-round magazines fit both double-stack pistols for owners in capacity-limited states. The PF9SS takes Glock 43 magazines and their aftermarket equivalents, and nothing else.

Sights, lights and holsters

Sights cross every generation because the dovetail never changed. Rail-mounted lights made for the Glock 17 or 19 mount on the PFS9 and PFC9 rails. Holsters are the exception in this group: a holster molded for a Glock often fits a Polymer80 pistol with slightly different retention, but the trigger guard and rail differ enough that some kydex will not seat, so look for the model name in the holster listing.

Reading a product listing

Translate the listing before you buy: "Glock 17 Gen3" is a PFS9 part, "Glock 19 Gen3" is a PFC9 part, "Glock 43" is a PF9SS part, "Gen 1-3" or "Gen3" on a small part means it fits either double-stack pistol, and "Gen4" or "Gen5" means stop and check. Anything that touches the frame's rails or pins should say Polymer80 or PF-series. When a listing is unclear, the part maker's compatibility chart settles it.

Building a parts bin
