The Rare Breed Trigger – FRT TRIGGER is a forced reset trigger system designed for AR-15 pattern rifles. It’s for experienced builders who understand the mechanical operation and legal compliance requirements of their firearm. The key benefit is its consistent, rapid-fire capability through forced reset mechanics. Since adding it to our shelves in mid-2024, we’ve seen a low return rate—customers know what they’re getting.
Stand-Out Features
- Forced Reset Design: The trigger shoe physically pushes the shooter’s finger forward after each shot, enabling faster follow-up shots than traditional semi-auto triggers.
- Drop-In Installation: Our staff tested it on multiple frames. Their note: “Drop-in fit on every frame we tested. No fitting required.” Uses standard AR-15 fire control group pins.
- Robust Construction: Machined from billet steel and heat-treated for durability under rapid cycling.
- Mechanical Operation: Functions through a proprietary sear and disconnector system that manages the hammer release and forced reset.
- Distinctive Feel: Delivers a very short, light pull with immediate, positive reset felt in the trigger finger.

Your Questions Answered
Is this a binary or burst trigger?
No. It is a forced reset trigger (FRT). It fires one round per pull of the trigger, but the mechanism physically resets the trigger forward, allowing for a very rapid rate of fire when the shooter maintains rearward pressure. It is not a binary trigger (which fires on pull and release) and does not produce controlled bursts.
What is required for installation?
Installation requires a standard AR-15 armorer’s tool to remove the pistol grip and the existing fire control group. The FRT installs using the same two pins as a standard trigger group. No permanent modification to your lower receiver is needed. We recommend consulting detailed installation videos and ensuring proper function testing after installation.
What is your store’s position on legality?

It is the purchaser’s responsibility to understand and comply with all federal, state, and local laws regarding firearm modifications and use. The legal status of forced reset triggers can be subject to change. We recommend you consult current ATF rulings and applicable laws before purchasing.
